How should the cargo bike be maintained?

You don't need to be a cargo bike mechanic to take good care of your cargo bike. You can easily do a lot of the maintenance yourself. Regular maintenance doesn't take much time and ensures that your cargo bike lasts much longer! We are happy to give you a hand with some tips on how you can carry out maintenance yourself.

Monthly maintenance

Your cargo bike's monthly maintenance will take you about 15 minutes. Make a recurring appointment in your calendar to set aside a quarter of an hour each month for cargo bike maintenance. In those 15 mintues, you can:
•    Make sure the tires are full
•    Check that there are no loose spokes in the wheels.
•    Grease the chain and other moving parts.
•    Tighten the bolts securely.
•    And, finally, give your cargo bike a little bath. The video below will walk you through how to clean your cargo bike.

6-month check-up

Every half a year, perform a slightly longer check-up. This will take about 60-90 minutes. Make a recurring appointment on your calendar so you don't forget. During your 6-month check-up, it's a good idea to check the following components:
•    Check the chain
•    Check the clearance of the pedals and bottom bracket
•    Check your tire pressure and tire treads
•    Grease the lock and tighten it securely
•    Tighten the stem securely and grease it
•    Check the front brake and adjust if necessary
•    Check the rear brake and adjust if necessary
•    Check the gear and readjust if necessary

Professional maintenance

If you plan to do your own cargo bike maintenance, don't forget that aninitial inspectionis mandatory to guarantee the warranty. An initial inspection by a certified bicycle mechanic is mandatory within 4-12 weeks after delivery. The cables and spokes especially need to settle in new bikes. In addition to the first inspection , we recommend that you have a Babboe mechanic or another professional bicycle mechanic do a maintenancecheck on your cargo bike once a year.
