Twin seat bicycle or cargo bike for twins

Twin seat bicycle

Do you have twins, and want to be able to take them on the road? Then a cargo bike might be the right choice for you. Biking with twins takes a little more creativity than biking with just one kid. We understand more than anyone that you're looking for the best option to bike your twins around. Cargo bikes make it easy to get your twins from point A to point B. Let us tell you how.

Maybe you've thought about getting a twin-seat bicycle. These bikes let you carry two kids: one on the front, one on the back. Extremely handy, but you can't safely use it for your twins until they're at least 1 year old. Due to safety concerns you can't put a kid on the front of your bike until they're 8 months, 12 months for the back. Pff, that's a long wait! A cargo bike, on the other hand, you can use as soon as your twins are 3 months old. Safe and fast, because you don't have to worry about only being able to bike with one kid at a time at first, or going everyone on foot.

Now that sustainability is playing an ever bigger role in young families, you're seeing more and more cargo bikes on the street. It's also not only environmentally friendly to get rid of your second car in favor of a cargo bike, but cargo bikes are actually really comfortable and convenient. Especially with twins! A cargo bike is easy to maneuver and/or stable and offers multiple seating options. So, if you also want to bike other kids around, then Babboe is the right place for you.

Two-wheel or three-wheel cargo bike for twins

If you're considering a cargo bike for you and your twins, then first you need to ask yourself whether you want a two-wheeler or a three-wheeler. A two-wheel cargo bike is great for two kids. These bikes are light and easy to maneuver, allowing you to wind your way easily through busy city streets.

A three-wheeler is, on the other hand, more stable and offers room for at least one to four kids. We don't want to pick favorites of course, but a three-wheeler might be the best bet for twins. Consider all the things you need to carry with you, not to mention groceries. With all the room offered by, for example, a Babboe Big, you can even bring a stroller along in your cargo bike. And should you need to, in addition to your twins, also carry around siblings or friends, a three-wheel cargo bike gives you enough space to do that. But of course the choice is yours!

Cargo bikes with twins

Once they're about three months old, your twins are ready to hit the road in your cargo bike. It's not possible to fit two Maxi-Cosis in a Babboe cargo bike, but there is a special infant safety seat alternative. The infant safety seat is the ideal solution for biking with infants between 3 and 9 months old. You can place two infant safety seats next to each other on the handlebar side of the box, allowing you to take both infants on the road.

Once your child can sit up on their own, you can start using the baby seat. The baby seat is designed for kids between 8 and 18 months. After 18 months, you can start using a toddler's seat. The toddler safety seat is for kids between about 18 and 24 months old. Not only is it possible to place two infant seats next to each other on the bench, but also two baby or toddler seats. So the twins are always snuggled up together! Once they reach the age of two, your twins will no longer need a safety seat, and you can simply place a cushion on the bench for them.

Brothers and sisters

Do you also want to bike other kids in the family around, in addition to the twins? Then your best options are a Babboe Big or Babboe Curve. Both are three-wheel cargo bikes that fit up two 4 kids. Both cargo bikes have two benches, offering enough room for an extra sibling or two. And if it starts to get too heavy to pedal, all of our cargo bikes are also available with electric ride support.

Would you like to test out a cargo bike to see if it's the right solution for your twins? Then take a test drive at one of our Babboe dealers!
